Technical Co-Ordinator
Biotechnologist, PhD in Experimental and Clinical Oncology, she is now the technical Co-Ordinator of CRBA and DIMEC laboratories. After obtaining her doctorate, Dr. Piazzi completed her training with a postdoctoral period at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas (Texas, USA) dealing with biology and chemoprevention of colorectal cancer. In 2012, she won a three-year funding as Principal Investigator for the project 'Search for novel genes responsible for familial colorectal polyposis' ("Research Program University Region 2010-2012 of the Emilia-Romagna Region - Young Researchers Call"). Dr. Piazzi has numerous publications on biology and prevention of gastrointestinal tumors, in particular of the colorectum, in peer-reviewed scientific journals. In 2020, she started to collaborate with CRBA as the Cell and Molecular Biology Laboratory Area Manager. In 2024 started to hel the role of Technical Co-Ordinator.
Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) and Rare Cells Area Manager; Flow Cytometry Area Manager.
Biotechnologist, PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Virology laboratory of Prof. Campadelli-Fiume, working on the engineering of oncolytic herpes simplex viruses (HSV), redirected to tumor-specific receptors, to bring it to the translational phase. As an employee of the Nouscom company (2017-2019), he contributed to the development of personalized anticancer vaccines, in order to address directing and strengthen the cell-mediated immune system towards neo-tumor antigens. She joined CRBA staff in 2019, as the Area Manager of the Flow Cytometry Facility and Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) and Rare Cells.
Immunometrics Area manager; ELLA, WES, LUMINEX, SPARK, BOND RX immunostainer Area Manager
Biologist, PhD in Biology and Cellular Physiology with Prof. Biasco's oncology unit.
She studied new treatment strategies for gastrointestinal stromal tumors, colorectal cancer, renal tumors, and sarcomas. During her PhD she collaborated with the pathological anatomy of Sant'Orsola-Malpighi Hospital in Bologna, studied biomolecular markers in colorectal cancer: EGFr, VEGF, COX2 and their clinical implication. She analysed gene amplification of HER2 in breast carcinoma using FISH for patient target therapy. During her postgraduate studies in Applied Genetics, she studied the association of GJB2 and GJB6 mutations in non-syndromic hearing loss.
Dr. Paterini has numerous publications on biology of gastrointestinal tumors, colorectal cancer and breast carcinoma. She joined CRBA staff in 2018, as the Area Manager of Immunometry.
Mass Spectrometry Area Manager
Graduated in Industrial Chemistry, he developed skills in applied mass spectrometry for neurological sciences, therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical chemistry, and toxicology.
Hands-on experience in proteomics, metabolomics, and related sample preparation techniques.
In 2020 joins the CRBA staff, dealing with mass spectrometry laboratory management, LC-MS methods development, and data analysis.
Animal Facility and Histology Area Manager
Graduated in Health Biology, during her PhD programme in Oncology, Hematology and Pathology at the University of Bologna she gained knowledge in in vivo experimentation, specifically in the field of oncology and anti-cancer vaccines.
In 2022, she joined CRBA staff as the Deputy Manager of the Animal Facility and the Histology Facility; from 2023, she has been helding the role of manager of both facilities.
Cell Metabolism Area Manager
She currently works in technical support for both the CRBA and FaBiT, as lab technician for the Biochemistry facility, as well as in communication and outreach activities for the latter.
Since 2008, she has been part of the technical-administrative staff at the University of Bologna, first in the Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences and later in the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology (FaBiT). In these years, she has supported research in a proteomics and human physiology laboratory and served as the technical manager of the Biotechnological Teaching Laboratories, where she was responsible for coordination and management. In 2021, she completed a Master's degree in Journalism and Science Communication at the University of Ferrara.
Cellular and Molecular Biology Area Manager
Graduated in Animal Biotechnology. During her PhD, she gained expertise on cellular and molecular biology and microscopy for the mammary epithelial barrier in vitro studies by 2D and 3D cell culture methods, for translational research purposes.
Advanced Microscopy Area Manager. Deputy Area Manager of Histology, Immunometrics.
Biotechnologist, PhD in Biomedical and Neuromotor Science at the University of Bologna. During her PhD, she gained knowledge of cell and molecular biology, histology and microscopy to investigating the mechanism of Myelofibrosis onset.
In 2024, she joined the CRBA staff as the contact technician for the management of the IXploreSpin (HighContentScreening - EVIDENT) in the Microscopy facility.
Technical Collaborator
Graduated in Optometry and Clinical Practice (BSc at Aston University, Birmingham - UK), he operates for management of instruments and laboratories, and besides he is also involved in promoting the services carried out by the CRBA inside and outside the university.
He joined the staff in 2024, after many years spent as Professional and Account Manager for some of the major pharma company.
Technical Collaborator
Graduated in Industrial Chemistry, she joined the Microbiology and Virology group directed by Prof. Campadelli-Fiume in 1996.
She becomes responsible for cell cultures, acquiring skills in production and purification of viruses, cultivation and manipulation of bacteria.
She joins the CRBA staff in 2024.
Logistics Coordinator
In service at Alma Mater Studiorum since 2015, from 2015 to 2022 he serves at DIMES, Cancerology Section in the laboratory in Viale Filopanti, 22, as logistics coordinator, Instructor Point for common materials both for the Laboratories and for the CIRC (Interdepartmental Center for Cancer Research), animal care and assistance, sterilization laboratory of tools for research, and small maintenance on the machines used in the sterilization room.
