Management of small colonies of animal models based on wild-type, transgenic, immunocompetent or immunocompromised rodent strains.
The Facility offers the possibility of maintaining and managing small colonies of animal models based on wild-type, transgenic, immunocompetent or immunocompromised rodent strains. The
Facility's current equipment allows the performance of routine procedures such as blood sampling, inoculations, administration of drug treatments, as well as more complex procedures such as minimally invasive and invasive surgical procedures, development of animal models of complex diseases and xenotransplantation, metabolic studies, in vivo imaging via ultrasonography and haemodynamic measurements.
The facility is also equipped with resources and technologies to meet current regulatory requirements and to promote the application of the 3Rs principle by ensuring maximum welfare of housed animals (environmental enrichment, monitoring and automatic setting of environmental parameters), refinement of procedures (internaltraining) and reduction (in vivo imaging).
