The CoastPredict General Assembly 2026 took place from 21 to 24 April 2026 in Mérida, Mexico, hosted by Cinvestav, with the possibility of online participation.
The Assembly brought together the international CoastPredict community, including scientists, practitioners, and institutional representatives, to exchange knowledge, share progress, and define the next steps of joint efforts towards building resilient coasts worldwide.
Over the course of four days, participants engaged in discussions on coastal observation, modelling, forecasting systems, and integrated approaches to coastal resilience, reinforcing the importance of coordinated global action within the framework of the UN Ocean Decade.
The event also provided opportunities to strengthen collaboration across regions and disciplines, with particular attention to inclusivity and the participation of Early Career Ocean Professionals and representatives from low- and middle-income countries.
Through this General Assembly, CoastPredict further advanced its mission to support the development of science-based solutions and operational services for coastal resilience, fostering a shared vision and strengthening the global network working towards sustainable coastal systems.
