GlobalCoast implementation and regional collaboration shape the closing discussions
Date: 23 APRIL 2026 from 9:00 to 17:00
Type: Conference
The final day of the CoastPredict & GlobalCoast Network Assemblies, co-organised with the Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience (DCC-CR), took place on 23 April 2026 in Mérida, Mexico, marking the conclusion of a highly engaging and impactful event.
The programme focused on updates and implementation of the GlobalCoast Network, with contributions addressing forecasting systems, regional initiatives, and innovative observing approaches. Discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening both global and regional collaboration frameworks to support coastal resilience.
A central moment of the day was the session dedicated to the Caribbean Adaptation Fund pilot sites, which brought together representatives from across the region, including The Bahamas, Barbados, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, and Trinidad & Tobago. Bringing all pilot sites into a shared discussion created a valuable platform for exchange, alignment, and co-design, reinforcing the importance of coordinated regional action.
Working sessions further advanced discussions on project needs, implementation strategies, and next steps, contributing to a clearer and more structured pathway forward.
The closing sessions provided an opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of the Assembly. The high level of participation, the quality of contributions, and the collaborative spirit throughout the three days highlighted the strength of the CoastPredict community and its shared commitment to advancing science-based solutions for coastal resilience.
The Assemblies concluded with appreciation for all speakers, participants, and partners whose engagement contributed to the success of this edition.
