The assembly of delegates of Movimento Democratico e Progressista (MDP), Possibile and Sinistra Italiana in Rome on 3rd December 2017 gave rise to the single list LIBERI E UGUALI before the elections of 4th March 2018. During the assembly the then President of the Senate, Pietro Grasso, was elected to lead the new party, with the full support of the three secretaries: Pippo Civati (secretary of Possibile), Nicola Fratoianni (secretary of Sinistra Italiana) and Roberto Speranza (secretary of MDP). The assembly was attended by 1500 delegates, about 206 of whom answered the questionnaire.
