NATIONAL PARTY DELEGATES

DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH: Paola Bordandini

The Party Observatory “Aldo di Virgilio” of the University of Bologna is continuing a multi-year research programme on the transformation of Italian political parties. The project began in 2004 in collaboration with the Universities of Cosenza, Florence and Trieste and aims to analyse cultural, organisational and strategic changes in various Italian parties by collecting the points of view of party delegates, interviewed at their national congresses. Between 2017 and 2023, the research focused on three national assemblies of the Democratic Party (in 2017, in 2019 and 2023) and on congresses of the main parties of the Italian left (SINISTRA ITALIANA in 2017 and LIBERI E UGUALI in 2017).

Since 2024, the Observatory collaborates with the ITALIAN PARTIES DIGITALISATION (IPAD) group, which - thanks to funding from the Ministry of University and Research, which also involves the Universities of Cagliari, Naples and Turin - aims to analyse the transformations made within the main Italian parties through the digitalization process.
