The CoastPredict Programme (coastpredict.org) of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development has reopened its GlobalCoast Pilot Site survey. Watch a short video about CoastPredict here

GlobalCoast is the central framework for the coordination and practical implementation of the CoastPredict Programme. Through its first Pilot Site survey in 2023 the programme established the GlobalCoast Network of more than 135 Pilot Sites and 75 countries. The survey now reopens to respond to requests from people wishing to enter the network, and to fill gaps in some regions where there are no or sparse Pilot Sites.

At GlobalCoast Pilot Sites, CoastPredict will strengthen capacity to monitor, predict, and assess coastal hazards and their risks in both the short and long term, and deliver knowledge, science-based tools and solutions, to build the resilience of coastal communities. The initiative does not start from scratch; instead, it builds on existing expertise from CoastPredict’s affiliated projects, latest advances in coastal observing and prediction, and the capacities and knowledge of local partners.
