On the second day of ECCA2025, the spotlight was on the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. A high-level plenary brought together European institutions, city representatives, and project coordinators to discuss how to connect scientific knowledge with local needs for faster, smarter adaptation.
Speakers included Philippe Tulkens (European Commission), Hein Pieper (Rijn&Ijssel), Catherine Lauranson (City of Marseille), Richard Smithers (MIP4Adapt), Vilija Balionyte-Merle (RESIST), Thomas Koetz (Pathways2Resilience), and Matthias Langemeyer (CINEA).
Beyond the plenary, the day featured the screening of Duty of Care with director Nic Balthazar, immersive installations and performance (Destination Earth, The Greenland Project), and networking in the Booth Area.
The DCC-CR remains active at ECCA2025, promoting science-based, locally grounded approaches to coastal resilience.
