Co-Growth Module 3 Webinar – Environmental Impact Assessment and Risk Management

With Alessandro Bonazzi (Generali GC&C) and Dr. JIANG Yuxi (National Marine Data and Information Service – NMDIS)

  • Date: 09 JULY 2026  from 13:00 to 15:00

  • Event location: Online event

  • Type: Webinars

As part of the second edition of the Sustainable Coastal Growth and Resilience (Co-Growth) course, Module 3 examines how environmental impact assessment and risk management contribute to strengthening coastal resilience in a changing climate.

The webinar brings together experts from the insurance sector and marine disaster services to explore complementary approaches to managing climate-related risks. Participants will gain insights into innovative financial mechanisms that enhance resilience, as well as operational systems for sea level monitoring, marine hazard assessment, and early warning.

The session highlights the importance of integrating scientific knowledge, risk assessment, and decision-support tools to better prepare coastal communities and institutions for the growing impacts of climate change.

Title

Parametric Insurance to Build Financial Resilience

Abstract

Global risks are increasing in complexity, creating a "polycrisis" that intensifies climate exposure, economic fragility, and geopolitical instability. This is widening the protection gap and challenging traditional insurance models. The insurance industry must strengthen its role as a financial shock absorber and enable resilience, with parametric insurance emerging as a key complementary solution to accelerate recovery and close coverage gaps.

Biography

Alessandro Bonazzi serves as Head of Technical Excellence at Generali GC&C, where he leads pricing, portfolio management, and underwriting governance. Title

Sea Level Rise and Its Impact Assessment under Climate Change

Abstract

This presentation introduces the disaster-related services developed by the National Marine Data and Information Service (NMDIS), including observational data processing, sea level monitoring and prediction, marine disaster assessment and zoning, tidal forecasting, and early warning products. The session will share technical experience and operational products designed to support developing countries across the Western Pacific, contributing to stronger marine disaster prevention and preparedness.
