As an Endorsed Programme of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the DCC-CR is pleased to share this update: the call is now open to select new expert members of the Decade Advisory Board (DAB), the multi-stakeholder advisory body that will guide the implementation of the second half of the Ocean Decade (2026–2027) and support preparations for the 2027 Ocean Decade Conference.

The Board provides strategic guidance to the Secretariat of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), strengthening UN collaboration, promoting the engagement of underrepresented groups and regions, and supporting science-policy dialogue.

Nominations for the 15 new expert members, who will join UN agency representatives on the Board, are open until 15 October 2025, 23:59 CEST. The selection process ensures geographical, generational, and gender diversity. Nominations can be submitted by UNESCO Member States, UN entities, intergovernmental organizations, or via self-nomination.
