The DCC-CR took part in the First Ocean Decade International Coastal Cities Conference: Better Ocean, Better Cities, organized by the Qingdao Municipal People’s Government and IOC-UNESCO. Our Programme Manager, Cecilia Bittoni, represented the center with her talk "Multi Hazards Resilient Coastal Cities and Sustainable Economy" on February 26.
The event brought together 200 participants, including 50 from across the globe, to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and foster collaborations to address ocean science challenges for sustainable development. Building on the momentum of the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference, this conference marks a pivotal moment in accelerating action for the newly launched Cities with the Ocean Platform and serves as a major step toward the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference and its planned pre-Conference special event on Ocean Rise and Coastal Resilience.
