The NEST project webinar series for 2023 begins next week

Our NEST project is back with a new series of online events dedicated to the education for sustainable tourism development.The first webinar is planned for the next week on Tuesday 24 January at 16.30 CET

The topic of this first online meeting is the impact of climate change on the tourism sector. There will be three presentations by CAST professors and researchers:  

  • And suddenly, it rains! The effect of weather surprises on experienced utility - Paolo Figini 
  • High tide, low price? When flooding Venice impacts on accommodation prices - Francesco Angelini 
  • The effect of natural disasters on tourism demand, supply and labour markets: Evidence from La Palma volcano eruption - Veronica Leoni  

This year’s webinar series aims to further build the capacities for development of tourism activities in line with environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The content of the events will advance knowledge and the practical implementation of novel concepts and practices in the tourism sector worldwide. Accordingly, it will work on the benefits that conscious and responsible tourism can bring to the rural communities, the natural environment and the human well-being of the communities involved in local projects.  

Network of Education on Sustainable Tourism (NEST) is a capacity building project developed by the Centre for Advanced Studies in Tourism (CAST) of the University of Bologna, in collaboration with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The project aims at improving skills in the field of sustainable tourism development of the public and private sector operators from 13 developing countries in Latin America, Africa, the Mediterranean, and Asia.
