Sea’ties (Ocean & Climate Platform)

  • What it is

Uniting scientists and practitioners around coastal cities adaptation

  • Who it’s for

Decision-makers and all stakeholders involved in cities’ transition

  • What it’s for

Promote solutions to support cities’ adaptation to sea level rise

Sea’ties is an initiative led by the Ocean and Climate Platform (OCP), which aims to facilitate the development  of adaptation solutions for coastal cities threatened by sea level rise. The main objectives are to:

1. Compile and disseminate scientific knowledge by proposing a synthesis of scientific literature on coastal adaptation strategies thanks to the expertise of a multidisciplinary scientific network jointly led by the OCP and the French National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS).

2. Collect and share experiences by referencing leading adaptation responses in a Map of Solutions, organising workshops in 5 regions of the world (Northern Europe, West Africa, the Mediterranean, North America and the Pacific) which convened 230+ practitioners, and sharing their conclusions in a series of regional reports

3. Support political action in favour of sea level rise adaptation at regional, local and national levels, and enhance support from the international community by providing Policy Recommendations for Coastal Cities to Adapt to Sea Level Rise. Supported by 80 organisations worldwide, they focus on 4 priorities: solutions, social justice, knowledge and finance.
