The recording of our recent webinar, held on Tuesday, October 22, is now available!
This session, the second in our series with CMCC, featured Susan Bates, Coastal Science Program Manager at The Nature Conservancy’s Volgenau Virginia Coast Reserve (VVCR). Dr. Bates shared insights from Virginia's Eastern Shore, discussing how the Coastal Resilience Program integrates tools like the Coastal Resilience Mapping Tool and nature-based solutions (NBS), such as oyster reef restoration, to build climate resilience and protect local communities.
In the session, Dr. Bates explored how The Nature Conservancy's work not only enhances biodiversity but also mitigates coastal hazards and promotes community-driven conservation. Examples from the Virginia Coast Reserve highlighted efforts like marsh protection projects and community-led Coastal Adaptation and Resilience Plans, which showcase how practical conservation initiatives can inform broader policy efforts.
Watch the full recording to learn more about these valuable strategies and the role of scientific research and community engagement in shaping resilient coastal futures.
