As we proceed across the anthropocene, our food system needs to be put under scrutiny in the context of the triple crisis of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss, newly emerging zoonoses, technological developments and global and local labor relations.

The intricate interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health, and the complex links between these and global market dynamics and geopolitical relations, call for the use of a multiprofessional lens in examining pressing issues of the sustainability of our food system, human and animal welfare in food production, and food security and safety.

The one health approach, a multidisciplinary framework, stands as an indispensable paradigm for comprehensively addressing this complex nexus.

This winter school is dedicated to an in-depth exploration of the critical theme of food systems in the anthropocene through the one health approach.

With a unique combination of lectures, workshops and group work by high-level international speakers, the winter school will provide participants with instruments to understand production, consumption and waste trends in contemporary food systems, assess the health toll of the agri-food sector, and discuss sustainable alternatives.
By adopting the one health approach, we foster collaboration among professionals with diverse expertise, drifting away from ready-made simplistic solutions and embracing a more-than-human perspective on food systems.

The winter school provides a unique opportunity to engage international experts from diverse backgrounds and with fellow young professionals in a residential, full-time learning context that will foster professional networking and the exchange of innovative perspectives.
