ATRIUM Plus – School Tourism and dissonant heritage

research, third mission

The Municipality of Forlì (in the region Emilia-Romagna) was the coordinator of the European cultural route “ATRIUM (Architecture of Totalitarian Regimes in Europe's Urban Memory)” and the lead partner of the European project “Atrium Plus”. In this context, CAST supported the project by guiding a participatory process for the creation of a school tourism product in six destinations of the Atrium route.

In particular, CAST made an overview of the Italian school tourism and promoted courses for tourism operators, guides and schools about the Italian dissonant heritage; moreover, CAST guided three Croatian and three Italian schools in the planning of a dissonant heritage route for school tourism. This activity was awarded as 2019 best practice at the Forum of European Cultural Routes.

This is just one of the many collaborations between CAST and the Municipality of Forlì that, in the last ten years, saw a fruitful exchange of information, of multidisciplinary studies and researches about the dissonant heritage.
