Research project: A study of the mechanisms of manipulation of democratic memory by ultra right wing parties in Social Networks

 

Bio: Carlos López Olano has a degree in Hispanic Philology (Spanish Literature) and Audiovisual Communication, and is PhD. Cum Laude and Extraordinary Award from the University of Valencia. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Language Theory and Communication Sciences at the UV. He has also taught and collaborated in different degrees and postgraduate courses related to audiovisual and journalism at the Jaume I University of Castellón (UJI), Cardenal Herrera (CEU) and the University of Virginia. He has been a researcher and visiting professor at universities such as Hebrew Univ. in Jerusalem, Roehampton Univ. in London, Glasgow Univ. (UK) or Vrije Universiteit of Brussels (Belgium). He has worked as a journalist, producer, editor and news conductor in different audiovisual media, such as Antena 3 Televisión, Canal 9 RTVV or in À Punt. His main lines of research are about public television, especially on the protection of news independency in the European landscape, and about the new possibilities that multiplatform and transmedia technologies open up in this field. He works too about Democratic memory, from the point of view of communication.
