Consultancies

DH.arc offers consultancies to scholars, researchers, and organisations that require technical and scientific expertise for a limited amount of time (e.g. to kick off a digital project), and can be acknowledged as technical partner in national and international projects.

Some of our projects

PalREAD. Country of Words

PalREAD is a project funded by the European Research Council under the European Union’s Horizon2020 program (project ID: 758636), lead by Prof. Refqa Abu-Remaileh of the Freie Universitat Berlin.

/DH.arc collaborated with researchers of PalREAD to setup the infrastructure for data collection and validation. We developed the ontologies for describing the wealth of Palestinese literature, investigating vocabularies and thesauri that would allow them to better frame the scope of their research and eventually to facilitate the data analysis. We transformed their legacy data into Linked Open Data and we customised an instance of Omeka S to host them and to continue the data entry. Finally we trained the personnel in the usage of both Omeka S and of advanced tools for data import, reconciliation and data quality assurance.

LAWHA. Lebanon's Art World at Home and Abroad

LAWHA is a project that has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Grant agreement No. 850760), lead by Prof. Nadia von Maltzahn of the Orient-Insitut of Beirut.

/DH.arc collaborated with researchers of LAWHA to design a data-centric approach to collect information relevant to Art history, particularly focused on art provenance and prosopographical aspects. We investigated vocabularies and thesauri that would allow them to better frame the scope of their research and eventually to facilitate the data analysis. We developed the ontologies for their project and we customised an instance of Omeka S to host their data and to carry out the data entry. We trained the personnel in the usage of both Omeka S and of advanced tools for data import, reconciliation and data quality assurance.

DiGEL - The digital archive of scholarly literature on Global Education and Learning

DiGEL is a project funded by the UNESCO Chair, lead by Prof. Massimiliano Tarozzi of the University of Bologna.

/DH.arc collaborated with researchers to setup the infrastructure for data collection and visualisation. We developed ontologies for describing scholarly works, investigating existing vocabularies and thesauri. We developed a pipeline to validate legacy bibliographic data (via their DOI) and transform data into Linked Open Data. We developed a bespoke web application, called CLEF, to serve the data and to continue the data entry with user-friendly interfaces.
