Saira Fitzgerald is a Visiting Postdoctoral Research Fellow (from Canada) in the ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science (CASS) at Lancaster University. Her research focuses on the International Baccalaureate, a key player in the global education industry, and its impact on national (provincial or state) education systems. By identifying recurring linguistic patterns in the global press, this research seeks to make explicit underlying values and attitudes associated with the IB that help position it as a solution to a variety of local education problems.
