Research Manager

Fabio Casini is an Italian professional with extensive experience in the fields of European information, training, and project design and management (Europrogettazione). He currently serves as Coordinator of the Interdepartmental Research Centre Punto Europa at the University of Bologna – Forlì Campus, which has been recognized by the European Commission both as a European Documentation Centre (and thus part of the Europe Direct network) and as a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in European Studies. Since December 2000, he has been working at Punto Europa, where he coordinates office staff and activities, manages external relations, and develops EU-funded projects, while also organizing events, training courses, and publications on European Union matters.

He holds a degree in Humanities from the University of Florence, awarded with highest honours, and a Ph.D. from the University of Pavia, with a specialization in the history of European Communities’ information policy between 1952 and 1967. His academic training has been further enriched by advanced courses in EU project design and management.

As Adjunct Professor of EU Project Design at the University of Bologna, Casini teaches within the Master’s degree programmes in International and Diplomatic Sciences and in Social Economy Management. His teaching activity also extends to the training of civil servants, teachers, and students, thereby contributing to the dissemination of knowledge about EU policies and opportunities.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with several professional organizations, including Legacoop Emilia-Romagnafor technical assistance in European project design, and he has managed the website of the Angelo Masini Musical High School in Forlì. He has also served as Administrative Director of the Institute of Studies for the European Union and, at the beginning of his career, took part in archaeological excavations, reflecting his versatility and adaptability.

Author of numerous essays and scholarly articles, Casini has investigated topics related to European information and communication, contributing to the reconstruction of the history of integration and EU policies. His publications include articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as chapters in collective volumes.

Alongside his academic and professional work, he has been actively engaged in local politics, serving as Municipal Councillor and Deputy Mayor in various municipalities within the Province of Florence, demonstrating his commitment to public service and local governance.

Widely recognized as an expert in EU project design and the dissemination of European themes, Casini actively promotes dialogue between institutions and citizens. With a solid command of English, French, and some Spanish, he works effectively in international contexts. He continues to dedicate his efforts to fostering European citizenship and to educating younger generations on current European issues.
