The Advanced Mechanics and Materials Interdepartmental Centre for Industrial Research (CIRI MAM) operates across several locations: the Rimini Technopole, the Ravenna Technopole, and within several departments of the University of Bologna, with which specific agreements have been signed for sharing spaces and equipment.
Technopoles are regional infrastructures designed to host industrial research and to promote collaborative research aimed at the development of new high-technology enterprises.
They host research and technology transfer laboratories.
They were established by the Emilia-Romagna Region and foster the sharing of knowledge and resources.
They are territorially based and consist of research units organized around defined thematic areas.
The Technopoles were established through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2007–2013 and are defined as “the set of infrastructures hosting industrial research facilities and collectively referred to as the Technopoles of the Regional High Technology Network.”
Today, the Technopoles of the University of Bologna constitute the main premises of the CIRIs (Interdepartmental Centres for Industrial Research).
The Technopole sites where CIRI MAM carries out its activities are located in Rimini, Ravenna, and Faenza. In particular:
The Rimini Technopole is located at Via Dario Campana 71. The facility hosts laboratories and offices. The spaces used by CIRI MAM are located on the ground floor and first floor of the building and are shared with CIRI FRAME.
The Ravenna Technopole is hosted in two locations: the university site at Via S. Alberto 163 in Ravenna and the municipal site at Via Einstein in Faenza. A further site at Via Ciro Menotti 48 in Marina di Ravenna is dedicated exclusively to CIRI FRAME.
The university site at Via S. Alberto 163 is shared with other university structures (the BIGEA Department, several degree programmes, and other units of the University of Bologna). At this location, CIRI MAM activities take place on the ground floor of the building, where laboratories, offices, and workspaces are located.
The site at Via A. Einstein 8 is the current home of the City of Faenza's business incubator, known as the “Parco delle Arti e della Scienza E. Torricelli.” The facility includes laboratories, offices, and workspaces. The site also hosts other scientific units of the University of Bologna with which CIRI collaborates. In addition, activities are carried out at this location by organizations outside the university system. These spaces are managed by the Municipality of Ravenna.
The administrative and management headquarters of CIRI MAM are located instead at the University premises at Via Ugo Foscolo 7 in Bologna. Administrative activities are carried out by the High Technology Network Unit of the Innovation Area (ARIN) of the University of Bologna.
