AI for Health and Well-being

Scientific Unit Director: Prof. Marco Seri

Scientific and executive representatives: Prof. Gastone Castellani, Prof.ssa Elena Bonora, Prof. Stefano Diciotti

Our mission is focused on the development, application, evaluation and dissemination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods for health and well being. Our interdisciplinary AI research includes the development of transformative medical AI applications to improve the understanding of healthy and pathological processes and advance patient health. AI models are designed by exploring several AI techniques including conventional machine learning and modern deep learning strategies.

The main fields of application include (but are not limited to) the development and application of AI models for:

  • predictive, personalized, preventive, and participatory (P4) medicine
  • healthy aging
  • biomarker discovery
  • early diagnosis and prediction of patient-specific therapy and treatment
  • Big Data Analytics, including multi-omic biomedical data (genomics, radiomics, etc.) and mitigation of their heterogeneity by harmonization and integrative methods
