The Centre’s Board

Members and competencies

The Centre’s Board is a collegial body. Its prerogatives and competencies are set forth in Art. 12 of the Operating Rules of the Bologna University Library - BUB.

The Board of the "Umberto Eco" International Centre for the Humanities consists of:

a. a Coordinator appointed by the Academic Senate on the Rector's proposal;

b. a Legacy Advisor appointed by the Academic Senate on the Rector's proposal from among the teachers, including emeritus professors, who have contributed to preserving and disseminating Professor Eco's legacy;

c. a member of the Eco family, specified by same;

d. two members appointed by the Academic Senate on the Rector's proposal from among the experts identified in Prof. Eco's will as contact people for the publication of manuscripts;

e. eight members appointed by the Academic Senate on the Rector’s proposal from among the teachers belonging to the many subject areas reflecting Prof. Eco's interests.

The Coordinator of the Umberto Eco International Centre for the Humanities chairs and calls its Board Meetings, directs, develops and coordinates its activities, and carries out the actions required to implement and monitor them. The Coordinator takes part in Board Meetings, without the right to vote, with the role of overseeing its administrative aspects and acting as secretary to draw up the minutes. The Coordinator is vested with the power to invite to meetings the other experts identified in Prof. Eco's will as contact people for the publication of manuscripts and other member of the Eco family. The term of office of the Coordinator and of the board members is three years, consecutively renewable only once.
