SLIDES - Smart strategies for sustainable tourism in Lively cultural DEStinations

research

The S.LI.DES. project aims at fostering cross border cooperation among cultural destinations in the Programme area and the common planning of smart strategies to support a more sustainable local development. Particular attention will be given to the promotion of tangible and intangible cultural heritage able to shape the identity of the destinations.

Thanks to the use of innovative tools, the project will support decisions of local administrations and institutions regarding the management of the most popular tourist sites as well as the valorization of less-known destinations as a driver for urban and social development.

The project includes:

  • The creation of a Smart Destination Ecosystem as a group of dynamic tools to monitor tourism fluxes and link it with other mobilities thus considering the impact of policies and strategies of policy makers
  • “Smart Destinations Ecosystem” local tests
  • Development of a common strategy to foster sustainability and economic growth in the European destinations through the promotion of cultural heritage and smart management of visitors
  • The research “Artificial Intelligence algorithms for the tracking of moving objects from video analysis”
