The Centre

The Center for Advanced Studies on Tourism (CAST) of the University of Bologna has, since 2014, promoted multidisciplinary research and advanced education aimed at the sustainable, cultural, and economic development of tourism.

The Center for Advanced Studies on Tourism (CAST) represents the evolution of the University of Bologna’s long-standing tradition in tourism research and education in Rimini, active since the 1960s.

Established through the collaboration of four Departments:

  • Management -DiSA

  • Economics-DSE

  • Quality of Life Studies – QuVi

  • Statistical Sciences “Paolo Fortunati” – STAT

CAST has consolidated its role as a national and international point of reference for tourism studies, thanks to a multidisciplinary approach, advanced scientific activities, and specialized educational programs.

Our strengths:

Multidisciplinarity
Integrating perspectives and methodologies from different disciplinary areas is at the core of our work. This approach makes it possible to understand tourism as a complex economic, social, and cultural phenomenon.

Internationalization
Our activities naturally develop within an international dimension: academic collaborations, research projects, and global networks that foster exchange, innovation, and openness toward diverse tourism contexts.
