How does a Children's Literature Research Centre come to life?

The Children's Literature Research Centre (Centro di Ricerca in Letteratura per l’infanzia - CRLI) was founded with the aim of providing a possible national and international point of reference for study, exchange and cultural events concerning the way to represent, imagine and recount childhood within different types of narratives (literary, figurative, film, theatrical), with a particular focus on literature for children and adolescents as an irreducible boundary between different dimensions: childhood and adulthood, aesthetics and pedagogy, creativity and education, etc. The Centre also aims to study and reaffirm the universal values of narrative and the importance of stories in all educational, intergenerational and care contexts, as well as in daily practice.

The CRLI of the Department of Education Studies “Giovanni Maria Bertin” was set off in Bologna – seat of the first university chair of Children’s Literature in Italy, assigned to Prof. Antonio Faeti – in continuity with a context that is historically responsive to the quality of culture for children, of which the following realities are testimonials:
