Funded by the University of Bologna within the second edition of the Unibo Global South programme, ‘Go Green’ is a multidisciplinary Research and Cooperation project aimed at strengthening ties with the southern shore of the Mediterranean on climate change transboundary challenges, adaptation, and mitigation policies. Led by the Department of Social and Political Science, it involves the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Economics to create synergies between two university institutions, Unibo and the Center for Global Studies (CGS) at the International University of Rabat, in a field of priority interest at national and international level. The overall objective is the mutual reinforcement of knowledge and strengthening interconnection with the territory, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG4. The project envisages three types of closely interlinked activities with a view to the circulation of knowledge, the exchange of good practices, and development cooperation:
1. Capacity-building activities in support of the partner and, through the partner, the local community to internationalize and increase access to higher education in the target country in two main ways: first, by filling institutional and programme gaps highlighted by the Go Green local partner, particularly as for interdisciplinary teaching expertise and research on environmental issues in the wider Mediterranean; secondly, by enhancing the CGS's visibility and strengthening its profile as a scientific reference institution at national level on the topic of climate change and environment-related challenges, like migration and security;
2. Mobility for post-doctoral students and teaching staff between Unibo and the CGS;
3. Training and outreach for NGOs, civil society associations, and local and regional authorities on climate change and adaptation and mitigation policies jointly developed by the partners.
