The Academic English Skills Courses are dedicated specifically to students enrolled on PhD programmes, and they are an integral part of ‘Cross-Curricular Soft Skills for Doctoral Students’. The aim of these courses is to broaden your knowledge of the syntax, lexis and register of academic English, to acquire greater competence in written and spoken communication, to write articles, and to prepare for conferences and seminars.

Each course last for 50 hours online: 24+2 synchronous and 24 asynchronous. The asynchronous component of the course is completed on the CLA platform and includes activities, exercises and materials for study. Participation requires a contribution from your Department. Attendance is obligatory (70% of the lessons), and you must pass the end of course evaluation. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance and an Open Badge certificate for the skills acquired.
