Whiteness in Global History

Lecture organised as part of the seminar ‘Interdisciplinary Approach to Global Studies’ (PhD in ‘Histories, Cultures and Politics of the Global’), by James Mark (University of Exeter).

  • Date: 03 APRIL 2025  from 16:00 to 19:00

  • Event location: Aula Capitani, Department of History and Cultures, Piazza San Giovanni in Monte 2

  • Type: Cluster 4 - Memories and Political Genealogies

This seminar will focus on the relationship between whiteness and global history. It will address what has been variously called inbetween or fragile or peripheral whiteness; a common feature of nationalisms that developed on the fringes of the white core, in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa or Latin America.
