The seminar will provide an in-depth analysis of a particular kind of heritage that is difficult to categorize, human remains, addressing provenance, conservation, and repatriation issues, as well as focusing on its use, display, and collection across the centuries and in different geographical and cultural contexts.
It will highlight the growing ethical and legal concerns, and the debates surrounding their exhibition. A specific section will be dedicated to the theme of mummies and their display in archaeological and anthropological contexts.
