COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Summer School is organized by the Center of Latin American Studies of the University of Bologna which was founded in 2013 thanks to the academic experience of scholars of Latin American History and Comparative Public Law of the Departement of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna. In 2026 the course will be organized in collaboration with the École de Droit de SciencesPo, Paris, with a team of comparative lawyers and specialists in critical legal studies. The course will take place in Bologna during the first five days and in Paris during the following three days. There is also the possibility of attending the course online. It is the first course entirely dedicated to the methodology of legal comparison which is an area of interest to all professionals to whom the Summer School is dedicated. The aim of the Summer School is to deepen students’ knowledge of specific rights-guaranteeing instruments through a comparative study of legal orders and to explore the definition of models and their diffusion in national and supranational systems of rights protection. The course is addressed to lawyers (judges, attorneys, diplomatic staff and local and national government officials or employees), doctoral or master students, and public, private, and non-profit sector professionals working in the areas of public and social policy.
