The Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience is participating in the international conference “Advancing the Sustainable Blue Economy in the Mediterranean: Forging a Sustainable Blue Economy in the Mediterranean through Transformative Innovation”, taking place on 17–18 June in Ravenna, Italy. The event is organized within the framework of Ravenna Sea Capital 2026 and brings together representatives from institutions, research organizations, industry, and governance bodies from across the Mediterranean region.

The conference provides an inspiring platform for dialogue and collaboration on some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the Mediterranean Sea. Discussions focus on advancing a sustainable blue economy through innovation, strengthened cooperation, enhanced governance, and the development of strategic partnerships capable of accelerating the ecological and socio-economic transition of coastal and marine sectors.
As a UN Ocean Decade Coordination and Collaboration entity, DCC-CR welcomes opportunities to engage with stakeholders working at the science–policy–society interface and to contribute to international efforts aimed at strengthening coastal resilience, supporting sustainable development, and fostering knowledge exchange across regions and disciplines.
The event highlights the growing importance of integrated approaches that connect research and innovation, public and private investments, environmental sustainability, and capacity development. It also emphasizes the need for stronger cooperation across Mediterranean countries to address shared challenges, including climate change impacts, biodiversity protection, marine pollution, and the resilience of coastal communities.
DCC-CR’s participation reflects its continued commitment to supporting the objectives of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and to promoting collaborative actions that contribute to a resilient, sustainable, and prosperous future for coastal regions worldwide.
